Review by hotel critic
Staying at the Mercure Banbury Whately Hall Hotel was a delightful experience that combined historic charm with modern comfort. Nestled in the heart of Banbury, the hotel's character shines through its original features, including stone passages and an impressive wooden staircase, offering an intimate glimpse into the past. My room was spacious and boasted a lovely garden view, perfect for unwinding after exploring the quaint town with friends. The newly refurbished Berkeley Bar & Restaurant was a highlight, serving delicious and locally inspired dishes amidst beautifully manicured gardens—ideal for gathering with my fellow travelers over a satisfying meal. Breakfast was a feast for the senses, with a vast selection of hot and cold items that delighted our taste buds. The staff was incredibly attentive, ensuring all our needs were met while providing informative guidance about nearby attractions, including the scenic Cotswolds and historic Oxford. Whately Hall's blend of elegance and warmth makes it a perfect retreat for those seeking to immerse themselves in a charming atmosphere while enjoying modern conveniences. I’m definitely planning a return visit!
